About Converge
Converge is an Alliance PVE raiding guild for players of
World of Warcraft who are based on the Silvermoon-EU realm.
realm-server.
The guild was originally formed in September 2006 on the
Doomhammer-EU realm by a small group of in-game friends who
had played together previously with some success. The essential
mission statement of the guild from day one was to pursue
end-game raiding with a disciplined and mature approach.
This approach brought early success which saw the guild clear
AQ20, Onyxia, Molten Core and Blackwing Lair all before
Christmas 2006 as well as taking down three bosses in AQ40 and
having an early peek into Naxxramas.
Patch 2.0 and the new "honor points" PVP system kept our members
distracted over the (now traditional) Christmas break of 2006
and our brief return to raiding in the New Year saw the guild
achieve its first kill in Naxxramas just before the release of
WoW's first expansion, "World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade"
in mid January, 2007.
Doomhammer proved highly unstable as a realm shortly after the
release of 'TBC' and recognising this, Blizzard offered all
players on the server a free transfer to the brand-new
Anachronos realm. After holding an internal membership vote
that passed with 98% in-favour, Converge subsequently moved
from Doomhammer to Anachronos in late January of 2007.
The new realm proved more stable than Doomhammer and less
crowded which was a welcome change whilst the levelling and
questing to reach level 70 took place. Raiding resumed early
in 2007 once the majority of our members had hit the new
end-game level-cap and were ready to proceed.
Towards the early summer months of 2007, new real-life
commitments and other external priorities saw several members
of the guild's management team having to step-down to focus
their attentions elsewhere and this provided opportunity for
several fresh new additions to the team.
After the normal lull over the summer of 2007, proper 25-man
raiding began in earnest as the summer months came to a close
and the guild was soon making good progress through the
'TBC' content.
Difficulties were encountered however in the process of
recruitment. The relatively 'fresh' state of the Anachronos
realm meant there was a severe shortage of experienced and
capable raiders playing on the server and this had an effect
on the guild's rate of progress.
However, the solidity and quality of the guild's core was such
that Converge was one of a tiny handful of guilds that were
able to weather the harder times that all guilds on Anachronos
faced and one of the few that were able to continue raiding
across the summer of 2008.
By the time that patch 3.0 was released as a precursor to the
second WoW expansion "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King"
the guild was the third most advanced Alliance guild on
Anachronos despite having not completed Black Temple fully.
Following the release of patch 3.0 (aka: the big patch of nerf!),
Converge quickly completed Black Temple and poked a nose inside
the Sunwell Plateau as well.
With three weeks left until 'WotLK,' the guild's management then
publicly released its plans to migrate away from Anachronos upon
the release of the expansion.
This decision was reached as the result of a six month discussion
regarding the difficulties caused by the lack of experienced and
capable raiders on the realm and a general sense of dissatisfaction
at the rate of progress made.
All of which brings the guild now to its current home on
Silvermoon-EU, one of the preferred realms within the EU for
Alliance PVE raiding guilds. With the recent release of the
new expansion, the members of Converge will be levelling
through the new content and enjoying everything there is to
discover on the new continent of Northrend.
Whilst this is happening, the guild's management will be opening
recruitment in order to fill the vacancies in the roster left
open by the members who sadly were not able to make the move to
the new realm.
Converge is therefore looking for players of most classes with
experience and maturity to join its raiding team for the
journey through the 'Wrath' end-game. Although 10-man raiding
is now an option, Converge will be targetting the 25-man
content wherever possible and using the 10-man content as a
stepping stone where appropriate.
For those interested in potentially joining the guild, the
following points of information may help in the process of
making a decision on whether or not to apply:
All applicants should be 18+ years old and interested
primarily in PVE end-game raiding. Occasional exceptions are
made but only in cases where the candidate is 'exceptional.'
Official guild raids are run from 20:30 to 23:30 on Wed,
Thu, Sun, Mon and Tue evenings. During official raiding hours,
raiding takes priority over all other activities. Fri. and Sat.
are granted as "Official Nights Off" although raids have
commonly been run on these nights to 'lesser' venues according
to interest.
The official language of the guild, used in guild chat and
over Ventrilo during raids is English. All applicants should
have good command of the language and be able to read, write,
listen and speak with fluency.
